Audrey’s beautiful and hopeful new play will kick off a record-breaking 10-theatre National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere in Florida Rep’s ArtStage Studio Theatre.
ALABASTER is an intimate portrait of survival where two extremely different women find common ground and discover the healing power of human connection. When a noted big city photographer sets out to explore the topography of “scars,” her journey lands her in the mysterious realm of an undiscovered folk artist hiding from the world on her farm near Alabaster, Alabama. This beautiful and edgy character study explores the meaning and purpose of art and the struggle of the often lost, tortured souls who seek to create it. Funny, heartbreaking, and earth-shattering, this powerful new play begins a record-breaking Rolling World Premiere at Florida Rep – before taking the country by storm!

Written by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak, A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE took Broadway by storm in 2014, winning the Tony Award for BEST MUSICAL. I am delighted to reunite with musical director, Victoria Casella, and choreographer, MK Lawson (and an expert design team) to bring this irreverent, hilarious, and brilliantly crafted new musical to life on the Arcade Theatre stage in 2020.
